Kapil Wadhwa is a Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Practice at Wadhwa Law Chambers, a leading disputes and advisory law firm based in New Delhi, India. With over 17 years of experience, Kapil is widely recognised for his expertise in intellectual property litigation, enforcement, prosecution, and strategic advisory matters, with a practice spanning trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyrights, domain names, and competition law. In the 2026 rankings released by ManagingIP, Kapil has been recognised as an IP Star for Trademarks and WLC has been recognized as a Trusted Talent Firm for Intellectual Property.

A graduate of Stanford University, Kapil has represented a diverse range of domestic and international clients in complex and high-stakes intellectual property disputes before courts, tribunals, and intellectual property offices across India. He has been involved in several landmark matters that have contributed to the development of Indian intellectual property jurisprudence, including cases concerning trademark protection, design rights, online enforcement, domain name disputes, and anti-counterfeiting strategies. His practice also encompasses the management of global intellectual property portfolios, cross-border enforcement programmes, licensing arrangements, franchising structures, and commercial transactions involving intellectual property assets.

Prior to establishing Wadhwa Law Chambers, Kapil trained and practised at a leading IP firm in New Delhi, gaining extensive experience in contentious and advisory IP matters. In addition to his legal practice, Kapil is a recognised thought leader in the field of intellectual property law. He served as the Chief Editor of the fifth edition of Venkateswaran on Trademarks, Passing Off & Geographical Indications, one of India’s leading commentaries on trademark law.

Kapil is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), where he has served on various committees focused on emerging developments in intellectual property law and policy. His work has been recognised by leading legal publications, and he is consistently sought after for his strategic, commercially focused, and results-driven approach to intellectual property protection and enforcement.
